Brook trout are native to Ohio. This is the first one I have ever caught. It's a stocked one. Read more about the status of Ohio's brook trout population at---http://www.tucleveland.org/brook-trout.htm.

River Reports
Sounds like fish are everywhere from reading the Rocky River Report and some of the Steelhead blogs. Getting up there is the problem. This may be the last week. I'm thinking the rivers will freeze up shortly after Christmas. Then it's hard water fishing for me. I will be going on a guided ice fishing trip for Ohio Pike in January. Hoping to shoot some video on the trip, so until then "Merry Christmas" to all and there is no such thing as "Safe Ice." Steelieman

Fishing Hurts!
Fishing hurts! Keep your eyes open for these types of adds in the future. PETA freaks are trying to ban catch and release fishing. These people are complete idiots. They have 750,000 members and are asking to ban fishing in all state parks.

Paine Creek
Paine Creek is a tributary off of the Grand River. It is in Indian Point Park. They have been stocking it with nice rainbows every April for the last 5 years to extend the trout season. It's about and hour and 20 min. from Canton. Check out the video!http://www.lakemetroparks.com/programs/activities/fishing.shtml
