Spring Break Panama City Florida!

Wow, 20 years ago- Panama City Florida aboard "The Treasure Island."
Snapper, croaker, trigger fish, still wearing a fanny pack today, but no white shorts or foam Newport hat.  Got to click on the photos, sorry way before digital cameras.

Dan Isgro, Louisville Class of 90, pink shorts, that is just wrong. Couple Bonito!  We cooked those fish in the hotel oven, that was a mess. I remember we went to the store to get potatoes, butter,  lemon, and a couple gallons of beer, honest- beer came in gallon jugs during Spring Break.  Dan is now an Officer in The U.S Army living in Texas with his wife and 2 daughters.

Centerpin Carping!

Caugt my first carp on my centerpin outfit today.  Drifted white buggers with couple split shot and a clear Blackbird Phantom Float.  The 13ft 6in rod gives a perfect presentation.  I'm walking the Nim. daily in the
heat to condition myself physically and mentally for the fall run.

Mixed bag of summertime fun!

Pic of the foot bridge that blew out this morning on Nimishillen Creek.

With temps. in the 90's look for fish in oxygenated water, been getting lots of fish where fast water enters deep pools.

Big Nini releasing one I caught.

My raptor friends are confirmed Coopers's Hawks, per The Ohio Ornithological Society.  Great bunch of birders on their site, check them out.  Everything you need to know about wild Ohio birds.

Weekend Report!

Get out just after sunrise or sunset for best results.
Got my first catfish today on my 3wt fly rod.  He smacked an olive woolly bugger and went crazy for about 5 minutes.

Caught a bunch of these guys feeding below some fast water that empties into a nice little honey hole.

Raptors In My Backyard!

I have been watching these birds in my yard for a couple weeks.  At first I believed them to be Osprey.  After further review- I'm not positive, maybe broad-winged hawks.  Anyway, they are big and have a large nest up in a pine tree. I think there are 2 adults and 2 juveniles.

Little Beaver Creek Report!

Good day on the The Little Beaver.  Hiked about a mile from the parking lot into the state park area.  Didn't see any  other anglers.  Caught lots of  creek smallies, couple " sauger", a white bass and a crappie.  Water was a little fast at about 250cfs.  Probably 200 or less would be good for fly fishing.  So we used ultralights - rebel wee craws, hellgramites, minnows etc. and some small plastics.

Big Dan working an outside seam in the morning fog.

Nasty looking mouth on a sauger that took a rebel wee craw!

Same sauger, pretty sure they were sauger and not saugeye.

An average size smallie.

White bass hit a rebel minnow.

We found a fawn hiding in the brush.

Bambi up close.

I still think less is more.  I had enough stuff in my fanny pack to fish for a week. This guy makes an ultralight pack that is perfect for a day trip.  I think a camera case from Walmart will work as well, pics to follow in the near future. Steelieman

Urban Rainbow!

Not much to report from the weekend except this guy!
Cool air today gave up another rainbow.  Hit a white whoolly bugger in fast riffles.  He was fresh, jumped twice.  I took a quick pic with a wet hand and he shot back into the fast water.
