Tuscarawas River Report!

Hot Saturday on the Tusc.  Temps. in the high 80's and direct sun.  The Tusc. is low with little flow.  Still has green tint to it.  Zero shade and not much cover in this section of the river.  Managed a couple smallies and rock bass on plastics and small crank baits.

Rainbows are moving upstream!

Caught this acrobatic rainbow after dark tonight behind a waterfall.  He hit a slow and low swung black bugger.  Fish from the derby are now entering the crick and working there way upstream!  I expect to catch a few at least into the first week of June behind any fast water- early morning or just after dark!

Trout Derby!

Not much to report from the past weekend except our local trout derby in Monument Park.  Too hot to get em in the day so we took the lantern down at dark and caught one after another on the ultra-lights with corn and glow bobbers.

Kept a few that were hooked deep and had them for dinner.  They looked good but didn't have much taste.  Not sure why anyone would eat a stringer full unless you were starving!

Mothers's Day Report

Dan with a bluegill from a new spot.  Real nice clean place close to home. The canal leads to a larger Koi pond. Didn't stay too long, prolly fishes better after dark!

Nice white bass on the fly from Mahoning River.

White Bass Run Not On Yet!

Hit the Mahoning River in Alliance with fly rods to check out the white bass run.  Water is too low and clear.  A lot of guys out along 225 with buckets of bait and no fish.  I got my first white bass on a fly and Dan pulled in a carp at crunch time.   Anyhow, Stark Parks put a nice trail in along the river and with some rain the fish should start running up the river to spawn accordingly.

Chagrin River Report

Ice Bones closed out the steelhead season with the largest buck of the year.  Talk about a guy with skills- Keith landed this fish with spit shot crimped on his line from last years trip.  He also used a fly I tied about 5 years ago made from hair off of our pet hamster named Cupcake.
WOW! That is a giant of a fish!

Big Dan also had an incredible day landing his first steelhead on the fly rod.  This fish was the definition of a Silver Bullet.  It jumped and tore line off his reel  all up and down the river.

Hard work pays off,
and Dan spends some quality time with his Buckeye Beauty!

Nice average size male!
